KENRO IZU - Luoghi dell'anima

A journey to the sacred places of the world, from Tibet to Egypt, seen through the lens and deep sensitivity of Kenro Izu, the cultured and refined Japanese photographer: this is the leitmotif of the exhibition hosted from 6 June to 31 August at the Rocca di Lonato del Garda (Bs), one of the most imposing Lombardy fortifications, a National Monument, from whose walls one can enjoy an incomparable view over the lower Garda area.

 

Curated by Filippo Maggia and entitled Kenro Izu - Places of the Soul, the exhibition is set up in the Sala del Capitano of the Rocca in the monumental complex of the Fondazione Ugo Da Como and presents 55 works by the Japanese master belonging to the series ‘Sacred Places 1& 2’, ‘Eternal Light’, “Bhutan Sacred Within”, “India Prayer Echoes”, “Angkor”, “Laos Charity” and “Fuzhou - Forgotten Land”, in a fascinating and enthralling journey through travel photography, through the places of the soul. All the photographs are collected in the exhibition catalogue of the same name published by Silvana Editoriale and together they tell a spiritual and introspective journey to immerse oneself in and understand different cultures and enter into harmony with them.

In addition to their subjects, the photographs, taken in analogue with a view camera, are also striking for the technique with which Izu prints them: pigment prints and platinum prints.
